What is 'Livable' housing?

Writer's picture: Reine WilliamsReine Williams

Livable Housing Australia (LHA) originated from the highly successful National Dialogue on Universal Housing Design, convened in October 2009.

The vision of LHA was to set aspirational targets for new housing to be designed and built to meet minimal liveable housing guidelines. The guidelines include 15 different criteria and three performance levels - Platinum, Gold and Silver.

The LHA Guidelines provide assurance that a home is easier to access, navigate and live in, and that it is cost effective to adapt as life’s circumstances change.

LHA are leading the development of safer, more comfortable and easier to access homes for everybody. Reine has designed to the LHA guidelines over the last 10 years and was excited to complete her LHA Assessor training course in early 2021, with plans to become and accredited assessor in the near future.
